At the early stages of the construction of the new building RWCMD approached Stage Sound Services to recommend a speaker system for the concert hall and for their new theatre. After extensively using d&b in our hire fleet for many years we were happy to recommend d&b speakers and amps to RWCMD for their concert hall. Stage Sound Services called on the expertise of d&b audio’s Steve Jones to assist in the system design for the concert hall.
The design comprised of a Qi line array with E8 & E6 in fills. The line array was designed with a Q7i at the top of the array, and a Q10i at the bottom of the array. The Q7i is used to reinforce the balcony area of the concert hall with the Q10i is reinforcing the stalls area. Due to the design of the balcony an E6 is used to cover the side balcony areas. At the rear of the stage there is a Choir stalls area. This area of the space is reinforced by two E8 speakers which provide monitoring for the Choir. The E6 & E8s are suspended on a custom designed frame which the Qi line array is also suspended from. There are five E6s that are being used as front fills across the front of the stage. RWCMD also required a multi purpose speaker system for use in the foyer area and also as an additional reinforcement in the concert hall. For this task Steve Jones specified two E12 speakers and two B4 subs.
After demoing a number of speakers from the SSS hire stock Ian Evans and his team at the RWCMD decided on a combination of Duran Audio & EM Acoustics speaker for the new Richard Burton Theatre. Stage Sound Services supplied the EM Acoustics speakers for this space. Ian specified two EMS81x speakers and four EMS61s for infills. The EM Acoustic speakers are being powered by Yamaha XP2500 amplifiers. In addition to the Theatre & Concert Hall speaker systems Stage Sound Services also supplied the RWCMD with four Yamaha StagePass 500 portable PA kits to be used in their new selection of Dance Studios and rehearsal spaces around the site.
In addition to the speaker systems a four way Trantec S5.3 rack was supplied for use around the many new facilities.
